930 ´78 vs 87

No difference in build quality from 75 to 89.

You don’t buy a 930 with concern about AC.

75/77 whale tail, welded fenders rear vent windows, 930 VIN

78/79 tea tray, welded fenders, floating rotors, 930 VIN

80/81 floating rotors. VIN changed.

82/85 solid rotors several revisions to suspension and CIS to tame the early 3.3 Dr jekyll Mr Hide personality.

86/89 well mannered, no more light switch on off boost delivery and oversteer of the early 3.3. The 86/89 930 oversteer was nearly gone unless greatly provoked or silly driving in the wet..

The only difference with driving characteristics are as follows..

75/77 pretty docile until driving beyond 8/10s then handling can become a real handful..

78/79 these can be described as well tempered when driving at 7/10s when going to 8/10s to 10/10 unless you are a professional racing driver you are basically signing your own death certificate.

80/85 were strictly RoW ect. They received various upgrades over the years to make a sports car that was safe to be driven and more importantly SOLD in the U.S. market not mention to meet emissions to.

1986/89 these 930s are so well behaved you have to be a real knuckle head or purposely trying to invoke the dark side of the 930s personality to get into serious trouble.
