You will need an oil reset tool, like Peake or some others.

How do you reset the oil service for a 1997 bmw z3 2.8l roadster? The instructions that the service guys gave me do not work?? Any Help would be appreciated.

I think the Z3's are different and possibly difficult. The internet should have you answer though. There are several Z3 specific forums on the web.
