Question 91 318is fuel pump fault?

We bought a 91 318is that has been hit, but airbag did not deploy. We repaired the radiator and grille, but now the car won't start, as it appears the fuel pump is not running. The car turns over, and tries to catch when starter fluid is introduced, but no fuel appears to be getting to the rail. The fuel pump will run if 12V is applied directly to the pump terminals, but the pump won't turn on with the key.

1. Is there a fuel cutoff circuit on this car, like a Ford, triggered by an accident?
2. Which relay is the fuel pump relay? I don't have a manual, yet, and I can't figure out which relay to test or change, in case that is the problem. The fuse for the pump appears to be fine.
3. we removed the airbag, as we are making it into a race car. Would that affect the starting of the car?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check the crank sensor below the chain tensioner. Clean it off if it is dirty and try to start. If it still doesn't start check the electrical resistance. Google M42 club for many threads on this issue. Of course it could be something else but this is the place to start

1. No, or none that I know of.
2. I think it's one of the two underneath the black plastic cover, the other is the main relay but you really need to buy the manual because there exist a good dozen
reasons why a bmw won't start, yes, based on your given symptoms.
3. Mine's disabled due to another reason, evidently not, but why don't you send me
the fan controls since my 325's are broken and you plan on wrecking yours.
