Reprogram radio
I have the bmw 325i convertable and it has a 6 cd changer. Someone said i can re program it does any one know how?

Oh yea, pull the radio out get sereil number off back housing. call your local dealer tell them you just changed the battery and radio went to code... they will get you the code. and then re=install the radio and type in the numbers.....

I've also gotten the code by calling the dealer with the vin #. Pulling out the unit could be a hassle because of needing that special driver & all.
Speaking of that special driver, has anyone had any luck removing the unit with an allen wrench or something besides that tool offered from BMW?

Super..I think ther maybe in error in your last statment, the dealer can not supply the code from the vin as these units are anti theft units and are not specific to the vehicle during production....
they are installed randomly with code cards in the owners manual... but then again.....see my sig....

I believe that if you can prove to the dealer that you are the registered owner, they will provide you with the codes.

You are correct in that Jared, but not with the vin.. you will ahve to supply the radio sereil number off the back..usually if you go strate to the parts department they will get it for you takes about 5minutes through their DCS sysytem...
if you dont have the tool to remove it a decent dealer service dept will do it for you.....

I've done the job with an allen wrench - but I believe I had to take a dremel to it and shape it down just a bit.

No disrespect Javier, but in my case you are wrong. When my battery 'bit the dust' last December, I found myself with the 'code' display. Now I bought the car from an import dealer, but it wasn't an authorized BMW dealership, & those geniuses gave me a code which had a '7' & a '9' in it. Well, as you know, the buttons on the unit only go up to '6'. So after I kicked **** around in my garage for a while, I called the German Car mechanic that I'd been using for a while. Since he'd done all the work on my Volvo 760 intercooler turbo that I replaced with my bimmer, he knew who I was & had personal records. He hadn't worked on my bimmer yet, so there was no way for him to know the serial number on the unit. But he called the dealership for me with the vin # which I gave to him, & got the correct code. I dunno, maybe there are limited codes based on model, year, & vin #, but it all ended well for me.

guys i have the vin and the radio number but the epople arent there can i do this on line any where or can i call liek a delarship in california but i live in jersey. the serial code for the radio is f30760828A and there was a sticker on it with awa9865 any help please. i need this fixed by tonight thank you

GUys i got the code it works. Now i turn on the radio. The 6 cd changer dfoesnt work. How do i get that to work. ANd when i put down the windoews top or wutever turn on the lights. The radio shuts down to one speaker. IM guessing this is the alterntaor. am i correct?

cuz i dont think the output on the alternator is enough to supply everything like when i step on my breakes it sometimes dies out. Im guessing its not putting out what its supposed two. I will probably do a draw test.but any other idea on what this could be. And its manual and when i have it in neutral and i put a load on like the top comming down or summin it almost sounds like its gonna stall. well its not my car its my gf im just trying to be a good boy friend.
