Question Guage pods

I know they make Guage pods for the 3 series. I've seen them on Stygar's page.. Where can I get a dual guage pod (pillar) for my 3-series
NOPI has it in it's parts catalog, but they've been out of stock for 6 mos, where else can I find one.. & for how much

Why do you need gauge pods? Are you running some boost? I know you can also get pod holders to fit inside the sunglass area, although it doesnt look as cool as a pillar gauge pods.

Yup, They DON'T look as cool as the pillars.. One of my best friends is really Heavy into turbos, but I might go the Downing S/C route first.. less fuss...
Nonetheless, The guages are real, but just Oil & water Temp...
Still N.A.
but de-badged, with guage pods.. Who's gonna test me!
Honestly, they're mostly for show...

That means you are driving a 318 I assume if you are looking towards a DASC. I dunno man.....thats on the borderline of rice. Although they arent as bad as people who put in fake guages....

Anyways, to answer your question, I have no clue where to get them. Maybe its a sign thats telling you maybe you shouldnt put them on....

Good luck with your search. The cool factor is definitely there.

Autometer makes a pillar pod, both a double and a single. You can probably order it from your local hot rod store. I got mine from

Borderline rice???
!rst of all, one must have respect for almost all vehicles. Those who deny rice have most likely been burned by it. I know of no other maker on the planet with which whom you can buy a car for 9grand, put 30grand into it, and for under 40,000.00 have a show car that can put most any stock sports car to shame.. I'me not talking about tuning by PepBoys.. Vtecs and the like, I'me talking that's exactly what my best friend did.. with a 300ZXTT, I actually feel bad that his car doesn't demand the respect and admiration mine does with under 150 hp (his puts 700+at the rear wheels!) You are right that most rice IS bad, but there are some wonderful examples out there from which we could all take note. A full M3 conversion still woudn't get my car close to the likes of many elite ricers out there... If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm speaking biased, as my other car is a 91 Acura Legend coupe -- beautiful even by bavarian standards (the coupe only)
Trust, I'm not trying to rice out my car.. This is my second BMW, and I've stayed true to german tuning with both. taking some ques from other areas never hurts tho..
Check them both out here...

Yes, I am well aware of the fine tuned japanese machines out there. When I said rice, I did not refer to EVERY modded japanese car. One of my friends has an ITR with spoon everything, mirrors, rims, brakes, cluster, even little things like spoon power steering caps and whatnot. My point was, why on earth would you need to monitor the oil temp or air fuel mixture? On cars heavily modded pushing 700+rwhp, I totally understand. But on your car? A 318 with no forced induction or major engine work? That would make the guages totally asthetic, serving pretty much no function.

I would agree that the old legend coupes (91 and later) were beautiful cars.

Having guage pods and guages is not rice if you need them to keep an eye on how your heavily modded engine is running. Having them for the sake of making the car look cooler and maybe fakin people into thinkin you're boosted is rice. Plain and simple.

I have tons of respect for everyone who cares about their car and for those who are willing to take on a challenge of turning daily cars into track monsters. However, faking the funk is where I draw the line. For example, people who stick on Type R stickers or M3 badges when they arent. Sure, they may think it looks good, and maybe it'll fool people into thinking they're a car that they arent. It goes the same with guage pods. Normally, who has guage pods??? People who are running boost so they can keep track of their psi. Also to make sure the A/F mixture is correct so they aren't running lean. Thus, guage pods imply heavily modified car.

I understand that the pods look damn cool, I too would be proud if I had them in my car. However, yes, they are borderline rice is their only purpose is to look cool. Anyways, here's a pic of a nice interior, 95 M3 that i picked up off dtmpower.

The reason for having an oil temperture gauge is to ascertain your oil has reached operating temperture before taking it to redline on the way to work in the morning. Just because your water temp gauge shows in the middle doesnt mean the engine is ready to be driven hard. Is that a good enuff reason?

1st, I never denied it was for show...
2>> some additional info to help monitor your engine never hurt..
3>> What head unit is in the attached picture?? Looks like an Alpine. I'll be making a descision on a new head unit by next week, and that one's in the running..
4>> Rice is obviouisly a relative term, as I got a set of altezza tails for the IC and after I got one of them on, I stood back, shook my head, and said... I'm not 18 anymore and this is NOT a Honda..
Those Taillights are nor sitting on a shelf waiting to be put on EBAY and sold for a hefty loss because I made a rice-ish judgement call. Was it a good one? Sure in some eyes, not in some others.. Nonetheless, I gotta go with what pleases ME.
Thanks again for the wonderful comment on the Acura..
P.S. I took someones advice on another forum, and puirchased the gauge pod on Egauges.com By the end of day, they emailed me back (just like everyone else) and told me they were out of stock.
Peace...

Good enough I think. However, I never drive my car hard unless the car has been warmed up in moderate driving for at least 10 minutes once I have hit the middle mark in water temp.

Wazzup - sorry if I came off badly regading the guage pods. I wasn't too sure of the purpose for your car and what you meant it to be. Thanks for clearing it up.
