BMW Roundel Paint Chip Repair

I wanted to get an opinion on what products folks have used to best touch up paint chips along the leading edge of your hoods, front fenders, & air dams?

Is there a fail safe source to determine my paint color code, is all touch up paint the same, & what's the best method for getting a smooth professional appearance.

While were at it, what’s the best method for buffing out swirl marks.

Thanks

Ok someone finaly asked.
The best thing for swirl marks.
Use cornstarch mix with a little water to make paste, mix till smoooth.
Lightly apply with soft cloth then buff off.

****TRY THIS ON A CONCEALED SPOT FIRST******

I used this on my '70 Chevelle street rod had 17 coats fire engine red with 10 coats laquer (show car)
gave me total glass no swirls or marks.

*****TRY ON CONCEALED SPOT FIRST*********

I have heard nothing but good things about the autosharp pen in repairing paint chips/scratches.

http://www.autovisuals.com/

It seems like such a simple idea, yet one that will easily work.

Here's another writeup about paint chip repair

As for swirl marks, best thing to do is get an orbital buffer and work at it.

Orbitals still leave swirls. Try the cornstarch thing. cheaper than an orbital.

That LANGKA stuff looks pretty good from the website and the video they have that demos the product. Has anyone here actually tried it with those results they're showing on their site? If so, I think I'll buy it. Please let me know...thanks.

I have it

I have it, but I need more practice with it. I have only used it once due to lack of time. I am not patient enough so I stop rubbing lightly about half way through. Good thing is that you can start over.

I think I have figured out what the secret is. I bet you could do the same thing with gasoline. If I remember correctly, gas will not harm OEM paint, but it will remove with touch up paint. Am I correct? The Langka stuff smells like gas. I read the bottle and it says "contains petroleum blah blah blah". All you are trying to do is smooth down the "blob" of touch up paint.

I think the instructions are on the website.
