Opinions wanted - 87 - 325

I looked at an '87 325 this weekend and would like opinions on purchasing the car. No significant body damage, paint is weak, drives good and straight; automatic goes through gears nice and smooth but - engages reverse rather hard. Owner removed a/c and cooling fan, interior fan needs replacing. Everything else is good; my concern is the transmission; he is asking $1,850. What are your thoughts on the transmission. This will be a daily driver for at least a year; sunroof works, interior is very clean with only one crack on the dash; ps power window does not work.

IMHO, and I am _not_ a BMW expert.
I would buy the driving machine, that isn'
t an unfair price, even with the problems.
Shoot, you could even part it out on E-Bay
and triple your investment. Good Luck.

I would tell him 1200, and when the tranny goes, I would switch it over to a manual tranny. You will almost always need the 650 in repairs, anyway. BTW, is it an E(ta) model, or an I model? I is considered more desirible by many.

Poor Californians, they are always getting the short end of it, and now this?
