Power seat 96 BMW passenger

While I was checking under the passenger power seat I saw heavy duty spring that was not in its proper position . Looks like a large clock spring with 2 short arms. Impossible to compress with a hand tool. I see I have to compress the spring to place place it back in position. What tool do I use to compress the spring and allow me to put the spring back in it normal place. I believe the spring is used to assist the up movement of the seat.
