Control Arm Replacement - Help!

After a couple of hours working in a cramped space I was able to remove the front control arms on my 88 ic.
Does anyone have any tool recommendations for getting the new arms torqued down on the frame?
I don't think the wrench used for the removal is going to cut it due to it's size..
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks!

I need more info here.....

What year, make and model?

a214trip 06-26-2003 05:33 PM

1988 325ic.
It's a super tight fit on both sides. The driver's side is a little easier than the passenger side..
Thanks for the reply..
As before any help is appreciated...

Ok, I still need more info here. Your question is still pretty vauge. What are you having trouble with? There are three places the control arm attaches. Why are you having trouble tightening the arm?

If you are referring to the large 22mm nut that attaches the control arm to the body, I found that you can do a few things...

1. Remove the exhaust manifold, this will give you the most clearance to the nut

2. Use a 22mm open end wrench in increments to tighten the nut down

3. Use U-joints and extensions over the nut, (this is what I did)

This nut is a pain to get access to.

The nut in question was the large PITA 22mm.
Just hope I'm in the +/- range for the torque values..
Time will tell..
Thanks!
