e36-M44 white smoke

Hi folks.
I have a 1997/98 e36-M44 engine. It overheated (mixed oil and water). I took off the cylinder head, took it for engineering job to put on new valve stem seals and clean it up. Put on new gaskets and closed up. Got it running for about 100 miles (160 km), Opened the top cover and retorque the cylinder head bolts.
Then drove it again for about 15km (about 9.5 miles), when hot, it started showing white smoke from the pipe. Not sure what problem could have been.
I must say that while it had overheated and losing power, it did show some smoke from the pipe, but I thought that was water in the chamber.
When opened, the pistols were rigid (not shaking) which suggested to me that the rings were fine (I could be wrong).
This is a DIY (do it yourself) job after mechanics are showing me no interest.
Timing done fine (one kick and car not losing power or showing any signs of mistiming).
Any ideas (I am afraid to hear that I need to open again and put in new rings.

To add to my message above. I checked spark plugs and found them dry. Meaning there is no sign of oil on them or even gas (fuel). They burn nicely and dry.
This (white smoke) happened when I accelerate the car harder for a short distance. But when driving slower it does not happen.
Could it be some build up in the exhaust pipe that just need me to rough it and burn it out?
