Cool Winter season wheels and tires

I am happy to be a new member of the forum. I just purchased a new 2003 M3 coupe. In Minnesota, I have to deal with the winter. Any recommendations on wheels (type of) and tires for the winter season? Where to look for them (online?) When to change them in/out? I am not looking to drive alot in the winter as I have a backup SUV, so I am looking for durability and to some degree less cost.

Thanks - RStar

For my 97 M3 sedan, I bought a 2nd set of contours used via the CCA classifieds and then wound up choosing the Blizzak LM20's in 225 width all around. One of the guys at The Tire Rack reccomended them and they worked incredibly well for me. Remember to turn off ASC when going uphill in the snow. (or leave it off all the time like I do..) and you'll be amazed at how well a BMW can deal with snow. The folks that whine about them have never run them on snow tires.
