Climate Conrol Question

How come when the windshield defroster is on, the fan blows at full blast? I've tried pretty much every configuration of fan/temp/defrost settings, but when the defrost button is engaged, the fan automatically come on full, & if you try to manually turn down the fan, the defroster goes off? I don't understand this, why wouldn't you be able to defrost at lower settings as you can with heat/ac?

don't understand? when you hit the defrost "solo" button over on the side with the AC picture of the snowflake -mine goes on full blast like yours. but when i'm travelling for a trip, i increase the cabin temp on both sides and self=select one of the three manual selections on the left side of the console (instead of the AUTO function). In this case only the "air up" button rather than on the floor or in my face. finally I increase the fan to high and de-select the recirculation if it was on (fresh air defrosts better)

thoughts?

Hmm, I guess that makes sense. What's confusing is, if the 'air up' button is intended as a defroster, then why doesn't it have the defrost icon. By the same rational, why would the 'solo' defrost button only be applicable only at full blast? I think we're missing something here.

The "air up" button isn't a defroster necessarily. The defroster button (over the A/C) is meant to quickly defrost the winshield. It automatically turns on the A/C or heat if needed. After about 10-20 minutes it shuts itself off. It will not restart when the car is restarted (if I remember correctly it goes back to the last setting). When the control is "Auto" air is sent to the windshield, middle and foot vents simultaneously. You can also manually select were the air is sent at what ever speed by selecting the buttons on the left (including all 3) and you can use A/C, recirculate and whatever combination you see fit to make yourself comfortable. I hope that makes sense?
