Unmarked buttons in dash?
Hi,
Just got my first BMW, an '86 325e. To the right of the main headlight switch there is an unmarked rectangular button, which I figure to be the foglight switch. But, what is the rectangular button to the right of the hazard flasher button and the defrost button? And what is the small unmarked square button just in front of the driver's side window-down button? Thanks for your help! |
The last one is the rear window lock-out switch. It keeps the kids in the back from playing with their windows.
The one by the hazard is a circuit breaker. Try running all four windows up and down simultaneously a few times and you'll see it pop out. |
The switch next to the flasher should be a control for the defrost function.

this is a different question, but somewhat related...my defrost button gets SUPER hot when the defroster is turned on (button pushed in and illuminated). is this normal?
Hmm... that would typically indicate that there may be a short in the line. Does the defroster even work?
The defroster works just fine. The button just gets really hot.
The only thing i can think of is that aybe the bulb is about to burn out and it's causing a voltage draw, hence more voltage, more heat.
It still lights up nice and bright...so could it still be the bulb?
It could just be that way. I know that my window switch lights get real hot to the touch.
it doesn't really bother me. i have no problem with writing it off as just another of my car's many quirks.
Good way to look at it. As long as the car is not "en fuego" dont worry about it.
LOL Yeah...don't sweat the small stuff, right?
