Alignment without scratching the rims?
 

I am running 235 40 17 Dunlop FM 901's on ADR 42's 17 X 8.5.

I want to add the Eibach prokit as well as the Eibach alignment kit. I have Bilstein Sport struts and shocks already installed.

Is there anyone that can do the alignment after install who will not scratch the rims?

Everyone I have spoken to says that they cannot gaurantee that they won't scratch the rims.

can't you get a set of crap rims/ wheels from a junk yard untill the alignment is completed, $10 ea, is what i paid. I guess you need to be sure rims aren't tweaked.

I was told that since the car will be lowered and the camber adjusted to the larger wider rim, it would throw off the alignment if I were to do it with my stock 15's.

Unless one set or the other of the wheels is crooked or warped, changing wheels and tires will not change the alignment in any way at all.

Lowering the suspension of the car (as opposed to making the whole car closer to the ground by putting on shorter wheels and tires) will add negative camber to all wheels. So if you are having the car lowered to a given ride height, you should do that with the "real" wheels on it. But after that, you can change to any old wheels that fit correctly to have the alignment done.

Dave is right here, however im a little concered about what springs you are currently running.

I have been running the stock springs for the last 11 months. The ride is great as is, but I want to get the nicer look so the rim/tire setup I am now running will look better.

I have been with the new rim/tire set-up for about 2 months now.

wow - I'm not sure if you'll get any rubbing or not with 235s up front and with the eibach pro kit. I was running the M3 staggered setup with 7.5" rims in front on 225/45s and I was rubbing at full lock (just very slightly) and this is with a saggy non sport suspension.

What do you mean the eibach alignment kit? Does it include camber plates?

Could you also post the settings they align your car with? My car is due in to get the suspension put on (also using pro kits) and I just wanted to get an idea of what #s I should tell the alignment guy to use when my suspension has settled.

I don't have the numbers...I was advised that I would need to purchase the Eibach Alignment kit to fix the negative camber once the new springs were installed. Check out the Eibach site. They have a picture of what parts come with the alignment kit.

They say to use the # from the same car with sports(m-tech) suspension which are available from service manuals.
