Cabriolet Top/ Window

A non-mechanical friend of mine is looking to get the top replaced on his 94' 32_ cabriolet. any ideas of who has them besides a dealer? price?

What about replacing just the plastic window with a glass one? (it is the window that is cracked open)

window replacement

i have checked to replaced the plastic with a glass unit but since the top folds right at the window when it is down, they cannot do it. as for replacemenet, if your hardware are fine, look for a local store, not stealers.

I just had my rear plastic window replaced (it was cracked in a few places) on my 95 325IC by Fields Bmw In Lakeland, FL. I am a total do it yourselfer but felt that this one needed to be handled by the professionals so I would get a waranty. It rang in at about 500 dollars. The window was almost $300, and labor was almost 200. I believe it was like $460 total and after taxes around 500.

I wanted to have one made out of DOT approved tinted plastic. I have talked to others that removed the window via the zippers and took it to have the dot approved plastic stitched in. You could do this for around 200 and if you install it yourself you could save the labor costs.

I did not want to take the chance on having leaks or the plastic rip. I have really bad luck, If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all, so I had the dealer replace it with factory parts.
