Fog lamp mount housing
I was headed out to Santa Cruz this morning on Highway 85 in my 99 328 conv., when I came face-to-face with a 10 gallon plastic gas container (about1/2 filled). I hit it on the left side of the front end going 60 mph. To my amazement, all that happened was the housing for the fog lamp was broken and the fog lamp popped out. The front bumper had minor abrasions, but surpisingly was spared. Needless to say, it put a damper on my trip.
The question I have is how difficult is it to replace the mounting housing for the fog lamp? Also, how hard will it be to find a replacement part and does anyone know how much these parts cost. I also rehooked the wire to the damaged side fog lamp and it didn't turn on...can the bulb be replaced, or does the whole foglamp need to be replaced? Thanks, LuMan |

LuMan,
I had to replace the mounting for my fog a while back. Not too demanding a project but you will (i had to and it made it really easy) have to remove the air shields from beneath the front of the car. I dont totally remember which ones but the wheel well piece came off as did the long piece attached to the bottom bumper, it will make more sense when you get under the car, other than that its all just a few screws and your done, took me about 10 mins. I bought the new mount from the dealer and it cost about $50.00, kind of pricey but its better than having a fog light pop out all the time, and yes, you can replace the bulbs without having to replace the whole lamp assembly...hope this helps mike
