'97 328 Cabriolet

Am lurking from the Pelican 911 and 944 lists. Came across a '97 328 convertible. Mildly interested... What should I look for?

Check for a history of overheating - very common on these cars. Also check the transmission - has it been serviced lately (automatic). The top can be problematic, does it go up or down smoothly?

How much?

Yeah, I heard the rumor about the top. $6K for the frame should it get bent. It is an Auto. I'll go look for the overheating signs. They want $12K for it.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, from a dealer in Hermosa. They want $12.9K for it, I have not had a chance to go look more carefully at it.

Ahh, I live right there (Redondo) which dealer? Caseys? Jamark? Heromosa Imports? Marina Cars?

I can tell you the place right near my house has about six of them, and has them for many, many months...

Hermosa Imports. I was at your place today, missed the 1pm deadline for parts. Will go by tomorrow, am taking a bunch of parts with me to a Timing Belt party in CT on Saturday. You drive by my boat (in front of the Crab Shack) on the way to your boat.

Maybe we'll meet in person yet!

I looked at a 525 for my wife once there. The guy claimed to not know anything about it. The car was in a huge accident with the entire rear end and lots of the front replaced.

Take it to Tony Callas at Callas Rennsport (www.callasrennsport.com) for a pre-purchase inspection. Tony's guys will give it the best lookover you can possibly imagine...
