Ilde Control Module
Hi,
I'm having trouble with my 1989 325i idling when cold. RPM goes up and down. I've replaced the idle control valve and that did not help. I was told it might be the idle control module, so I thought I would try replacing that. I can't find the darn thing. I looked where the book said it should be, (above the glove box next to the control unit) and it is not there. I've replaced engines, transmissions, rear ends, and almost everything on these cars, so it's not like I new at this. I just need your help in locating the idle control module. Thanks Doug |
Just found out that my car does not have a seperate idle control module,
it's part of the electronic control unit. Thank you anyway. Doug |
You have a vacuum leak somewhere, that is what causes the fluctuating idle.

I agree with you Jared, and I've used two cans of carburator cleaner spraying hoses trying to find it with no luck.

It can also be the vavle cover gasket and the oil filler gasket as well. If you send me your email address, I can send you an article on how to troubleshoot this problem.
