Good point. I like the Murano & it's Infinity counterpart, but hate the new 3, go figure.
I think that is the biggest thing that mystifies me... no matter how stupid, ugly, clunky, or defective a car is... someone will buy it!!! Someone will pay multi-thousands of dollars to own a brand new latest and greatest freakshow! Out of all the vehicles out there, how can a person settle on something like an Aztek as the 'vehicle of choice'... well, unless they were freakin' givin' them away!!
I personally think the Murano looks like a little rhino... not exactly attractive looking, but kinda cool just the same. I think I just might like it's styling... to a certain level. |
I really like where BMW is going with its new cars...you have to progress.. i mean who wants to be driving around an E36 15 years from now?
This is not progress... BMW is doing a huge favor for the rest of the automobile industry by building these cars. I thought it was the Japanese that copied the Germans? Chris Bangle need to be set ablaze, as well as the whole staff that supports him... The 3 series is an awesome car, and has had very good styling for almost 30 years... Porsche has kept the 911 styling for almost 40 years now with no reason to let it go... The only half way decent looking BMW is the new 6 series, but why do i still think volvo when i see it? Soap Box done.
I havent the slightest idea why you think "Volvo" when you see the new six (which by the way i think is one of the best BMW designs in recent years)
I haven't the slightest idea why I think 'rhino' when I see the new Murano... but I do :D That's that 'personal taste' aspect kicking in. Although, with recent developments, looking like a Volvo isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. What was that old Volvo saying?? "Boxy, but good."
LOL ya if this was 1995 saying a BMW looked like a vovlo would have been pretty bad...but the new S60 R is a pretty sweet looking car man!
I didn't mean that in a bad way. The new volvos are very nice cars and would consider one if i had that kind of money. The point was just that BMW doesn't seem to be leading their own styling, more like fallowing everyone else.
I agree. You used to be able to go through an auto magazine and, as flipping through the pages, stop on a page and say, "Oooh... that's a Beemer." (like the first time I saw a picture of the new E46 M3) Now, I end up just flipping right past them; and if I do stop and look, it's more like, "Hmm, who's new car is that... oh, it's BMW's."

I dunno. My wife has an S60, & although the car has reasonable power, it lacks the responsivness that Bimmers have. Volvo's are not geared toward the type of driver that would choose a BMW. I actually had a 760 Intercooler turbo right before my 328is. The 760 was a great car, very reliable, lotta pep, & comfy with all the ammenities. But it just doesn't compare to the BMW ride. It's like the difference between watchin' a pro hockey game in a premium luxury suite, or playin in a midnight pick-up 'rat' game on a Saturday night after a few drinks. The first gets you involved from a safe distance, but doesn't offer the exhileration, interaction, & enjoyment of the later. |
supertack, which is why its the wifes car (with no offense to all the lovely ladies out there)
What, your wife or mine? Yah, my wife drives a Volvo, but like I said, I had one before my bimmer as well. I heard someone here say once, they wouldn't want their wife (hence have a car in their garage) drive a car that they wouldn't wanna drive themselves. Well I totally prescribe to that publication. I mean, ya don't want your wife to.. a) have a car that she's uncomfortable with, &... b) have a car that's even close to yours; however, you do want to peer into your garage & see a compliment to the BMW. I was kinda glad my wife opted for the S60. She test drove a 5 series & an Audi 6, but both of those didn't give her the 'ease into it accelerator' that the Volvo did. Women don't want a lotta pedal down there, they just wanna get to where they wanna go in style.
