on another topic...

have you done any performance upgrades I am torn between a 98 or 99 m3 or a free 1985 ROM targa that I cant have until august. I am curious because of your specific experience as a vendor what you think of the two cars cost aside, and for overall track performance I am a 10-12 DE a year guy who would like to compete more seriously in a few years and the car would get stripped out and be used exclusively for that.

Dave

PS i was serious about the offer I gave Wayne regarding helping drive traffic to the BMW side of the board.

Hi there,

This was a reply that I accidentally posted as a new topic….

Have you driven an M3 before? If not I highly encourage you to take one for a spin this will allow you to feel that raw hours power and handling first hand. I have a 3rd Generation RX-7 (One of Japan’s super-cars) and this can’t keep up with the M3 on the track, but a straight line is a different subject.

I’d personally prefer the M3 for a few different reasons but hey that’s just me, now if we’re talking a Turbo 996 then I’m sure my tone would change.

Yes I have driven on and honestly I dont feel like they are quick enough, I know I am coming out of a car that had a sledge hammer for a motor but it took a lot of work to get it there.

But im buying the car because even with coil overs and sway bars my last car didnt handle quite the way i wanted, it would either push or rotate way too much. I love the way both the M3 and the 911 handle the M3 is so nutral and you have such feeling in the car, the 911 can be driven in ways other cars simply cannot.

what I dont want to happen it for me to buy the car, then like the last one buy coil overs, sway bars, brakes, and then go after the motor to get it where i was. That said both cars need more power for me to be happy (i know its silly) and the porsche is a lot easier to get down to 10 to 1 than the M3 and the wieght presents a great advantage for the 911. BUt the M3 has that an i dont know what.
