MAXI - is that time for the 3.2L you posted for the US version of the 3.2L? What's the source you're looking at?

Hi MAXI -

The reason I asked about your source was for the US both the '95 3.0L and the '96 & later 3.2L were rated at 240 hp (but the 3.2L had better torque and 3.23 rear diff. - the '95 had a 3:15 rear diff.) I was wondering if the 0-100km time you had for the 3.2L might have been for the US version.

3.2L is better, but the US version was kept at 240 hp to get emissions approval.

PTG is right. In America, both the S50USB30 (3.0) and S52USB32 (3.2) officially made 240hp. Most accounts reckon the 3.2 is actually closer to 250hp, and the emissions answer was a new one for me. I understood it to be that the new motor required an increase in displacement to offset the horrid (thanks, California) OBDII system and BMWNA Marketing reasoned that listing more power would unjustly devalue the 1995 M3s.

In Europe (RoW), the 3.0 made 286hp and the 3.2 made 321hp.

I thought the '95 Non US cars were 3.0 and had 288hp. The '96+ non US cars had the 321hp motor. As well as SMG I. Also heard that some people in europe actually like the US spec motors to start with 'cause of the low end torque vs. high end hp. What have you heard?
