Help !!! Power Locks dont work!!

I have a 87 BMW 325 and the driver side power door locks stopped working?

Only the passenger side unlocks or locks now. I've been locking and unlocking the car from the trunk.!

Any advice or help would be appreciated!

Do the power locks themselves not work? Or can you just not activate the power locks with the driver's side keyhole? I've been unlocking the doors with the trunk, too for that reason. I bought a keyless entry unit from BMP Design (bmpd.com, $90). I haven't installed it yet, but I'll let you know how it goes.

Another option would be to replace the lock cylinder, which is part# BW-51-21-1-924-903

I installed the bmpd part last week, and it works great. It's actually made by a company called Autoloc.

Anyway, check out this article for some decent installation instructions.

Three things to add:

1. When testing which wires do what, connect a wire to ground (black or brown wire) to see what that wire does.

2. Don't install with the driver door open. It will mess with your mind (like it did me) b/c the locks aren't designed to lock when that door is open, so when you find the lock wire, it will lock then unlock again automatically. I thought I'd destroyed my locking system when it started doing that.

3. When teaching your remotes the codes, connect the yellow wire to 12v power, then disconnect when you're done.

Oh, I mean 4 things. 4 - make sure you orient the little whip antenna perpendicular to the ground. That will increase the range of the antenna in the plane you're interested in (when you and the car are both in the same horizontal plane.
