Possessed left turn signal...
 

On my '84 318i the left turn signal flashes properly when the hazards are on, but real fast when Im just using the turn signal. To top it off, when the headlights are on, the left signal flashes slow, erratic, and sometimes not at all. The right one seems fine and all the bulbs seem to be working. Anyone have any insight on this?

You probably have a burned out bulb somewhere.

Thats what I thought too at first, but they all seem to be working fine. Ill double check though.

Could this have anything to do with a burned out driver side high beam??

No, works on a different circuit..

How are the bulbs in the istrument panel for each turn signal.. (the green ones)

the problem with mine is the plug for the turn lights. They tend to rust and make the lights erratic. You'll have to take them out from the bumper and clean all conectors. A bit difficult if you don't have a ratchet and an extension, the socket I think is 10mm and one of the nuts holds the bumper rubber in place.

Ok...I got the signal working...it was the connector at the left front signal just like GreyDeemon said. However, now when I step on the brake, I get no turn signal at all! There must be a crossed wire somewhere because the brake light and turn signal are on seperate circuits. Also, does anyone know where I can see a picture of the fuse box with circuit labels for my '84 318i?

Oops...when I step on the brake with the headlights on I lose the turn signal....maybe a short in the headlight switch?
