Does Bad COIL packs = BAD DME ecu?
I heard that on the E36 325 once you get a bad coil most likely the DME ECU will get damaged with it. Is this true??? and if so how can I tell if my ECU is bad? .....CVALTE@mwe.com.....

Hmm, I haven't heard this. In fact, the coil replacement procedures I've seen don't call for replacing the ECU...

There is potential for affecting the ECU, but it is not likely. I mean, it is all tied to an electrical system, and a coil pack could go bad that (theoretically) could give feedback in the system and hurt the ECU. Chances of that are slim, but it is possible. I would image a code would show up if the ECU started giving problems, but then again that is not always the case.
