Torx head on tranny question
hi this is a question for wayne or anyone that can answer this for me, when you did that write up for the clutch replacement. the toppest bolt on the tranny, what size was the torxhead. was it a E-16, or E-14, because when i use the e-14 it doesnt fit nicely, and the e-16 there is alittle bit of jiggling.
thanks |

Hi there. If you look at this photo:
![]() The red & yellow should be the larger size, and the green should be the smaller size... -Wayne

i see you used a 3feet extenstion. where did you get that, i cant seem to find one from craftsman. did you use snap-on? the toppest bolt seems to be almost impossible for me, ive used an impact wrench and it doesnt seem to be able to come off. is a breaker bar easier to use?

You really need to do the foot thing, or get an assistant for this one.
This would work well: http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/catalog/shopcart/TOOL/POR_TOOL_CAT039_pg3.htm also, check out this section: http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/catalog/shopcart/TOOL/POR_TOOL_CAT039-detail.htm -Wayne

do you sell just the 24" extension? because ive linked them together and it doenst seem to be distributing any torque to the bolt.

Use a 3-ft breaker bar on the end - you really need a lot of force. Linking them together won't reduce the force - it'll just create some slop in the linkage...
