Question Signals out

My signals are no longer working. I own a 1987 325i bmw. After some looking in the manual my dad told me to ask around for a signal/hazord flasher. I called 3 dealerships close to my home. and the first one gave me a price of 44.10 the next one said 34 dollars but neither of these stores had them in stokc. I am leaving for a road trip soon so I was looking to find one in stock.

The next place I called said they had no clue what i was talking about. The had a relay for 44 dollars but a flasher in my car (1987 325i) didnt make sense. He told me to ask my father if it was the relay and call back. After I called back I recieved a diffrent guy on the phone he set out to look for it and 5 minutes later the both got back on the phone and told me that my car doesn't really use a flasher. And continued with saying that if I was talking about a ford he would no exactly what i ment... but he has worked there for 10 years and really dosnt think that i am correct on this one.

Is this guy correct or does he not know his bwm's? Can anyone confirm that my model has a flasher? And if so do u know what it is more comenly know as?

Well, a flasher is a common part in many cars as far as I know. I had one go out on me in my 1981 320I. Normallythe parts are cheap, but because we have BMWs they double ,triple or even further raise the price.

My god!!

BMW flashers work the next Way (not complete scheme Sure!)

flashers - wires - relay (steering weel column located, remove the bottom plastic cover, its black color with 3 pins for standar cars or 4 pins for cars pulling motorboats or similars) - wires - emergency hazard button.

You have the problem either on the relay or the emergency hazard button which also works as a relay.

check them both (begin with the standar relay, is cheaper).

Good luck
