Just got a 84' 318i and have Q's

Well i just got the car a couple weeks ago and have been tinkering with it. Trying to replace anything that will pose a problem in the future. I changed oil, sparks, and thinking of putting Z-Max to clean things up... is that a good idea? What other things should i look for in replacing?

I was planning to replace the timing belt also but was unsure if the 84' 318i have a timing chain or a belt? I read somewhere it is a chain and that i wouldnt need to replace it. Hopefully someone can clear this up.

Also when i cold start the engine, the engine seems to constantly rev to around 2000-2500 rpm until the car warms up and it would idle around and below 1000 rpm afterwards. Is this normal?

Another thing is that the passenger side window will roll down when i press the button but it would not go up. I read in a similar post that it could be the linkage problem or is it something else?

Thanks to all in advance for any help

Your car is an 318i M10 engine with timing chain, not belt. Mine is an '87 318i M40 engine with timing belt.

Revs are not normal at all check the flowmeter.

On the windows in pretty sure is nothing else than a secctioned wire or dirty contact.
