Crispa, I have been looking carefully at the area behind the lower grill next to the brake cooling ducts. It looks like an Escort, mounted vertically, would fit in there. You'd want to cover it somehow to protect it, and dissect it a bit to 'remote' its controls to a panel in the sunglasses holder on the center console. -or- you could just remote the indicator light and mount it somewhere inside. I've even thought of hi-jacking the parking brake indicator light wire so that the radar detector would turn THAT light on in the instrument panel.

The Escort is an old but good radar detector and probably plenty of them are available on ebay pretty cheap.

I've often thought that if one could find an unused input channel on the OBC and find some unused memory space in the OBC ROM, one could reprogram the OBC to receive an alert signal from the radar detector, and flash an alert message on the OBC and sound the chime a few times.

Has anyone disassembled the OBC ROM code?

Same here. If you find such a device that integrates its functions with the instrument display, please post here.
