Question Recommended Transmission and Final Drive Oil?

What is the concensus on manual transmission and final drive oil for E30's ('86 325 eta--just picked up recently as a project car )? I have a case of the BMW Super Synthetic 75W-140 Gear Oil already in the garage that I use for my BMW motorcycles, any problem with using that?

No time to get Redline or other specialty oil, need something readily available today, maybe a Mobil 1 syn or other from local auto store?

Sean:

Looks lioke no-one is responding. I think the consensus is to use redline but I used the BMW OEM stuff for years before switching over. Now, I'd be just as happy with any of the Valvoline products (synthetic) or Swepco products.

Thanks for your reply, Jason. For now, I just picked up some Mobil 1 75W90 gear oil that I'll try.

I called a BMW dealer, who actually recommended using 10W30 motor oil! Said that's what they use in all their cars because gear oil is too thick?!
