need advice on possible purchase

An 98 M3 just showed up at the local dealer with 89000 miles, silver w/ blk interior. The previous owner was in the local chapter (CCA) and bought a new 330xi. I know the car durning his ownership was never tracked raced anything other than a daily driver. Right now I've got a 98 328is...Is 40 or so HP really worth the money??? They want 18K for the M, I still owe a few grand on mine but I've also installed alot of OE M components...

I do not track my car either, its a daily driver 60 miles a day!

What would you do?? This car I believe is not going to sit the week, It looks that good...

Hey there,

I see that you also posted this on our sponsored forums :D

I read a lot of the feedback and can agree with most of the information that they guys provided. You'll know what they are all talking about when you test drive the M3 for your self.

Many spend a huge amount of time trying to get their non M to perform up to or close to the standards of the M3 only to find that they will over spend and won't be able to recover on the sale at a later date.

I would say to you "GO FOR IT!" You won't regreat it IMO.

Its not JUST the HP, it's the LSD and the lower rear-end that you WILL notice. If you love to drive it's worth it. If you don't enjoy exploring the limits of your car then it's probably not worth it.

The price is not bad but not great unless it is immaculate.

about the price...
Its at a dealer #1... But I also know that they should drop by 1K so 17 and change...Still I've seen others going cheaper its just I know this car and the previous owner...
going today at lunch to test drive and see if the numbers work...

Knowing the car and owner is a big plus. 18k is pretty good for a car you are familiar with and if you can get them to go for 17k even better.

You'll love it, just try to be impartial during the negotiations :)

IMO...

Seems a little high for 89K.... IMO :)

FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH... I BOUGHT THE CAR ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND SO FAR IT IS A GREAT CAR. I GOT THE DEALERSHIP DOWN TO 16,600 WITH ALL NEW FT. PADS/ROTORS. WANTED TO GET DOWN TO 15 5 BUT, I NEEDED THE CAR TO DRIVE TO FL ON THE FRI OF THAT WEEK. DIDN'T WANT TO BE TOO BOLD AND LOSE WHERE I WAS. JUST WONDERING IF THERE WERE ANY REASONS THE CAR WAS NOT PURCHASED???? BY THE WAY....ANYONE WANT A PAIR OF SNOW TIRES FOR M3 (98% NEW)

I know this is off the track completely...But has any one ever driven a audi S4?
any comments?

thanks.
kutch
car was not purchased because dealer openly admitted that the ball joints where JUST becoming loose... because they where not failed they would not replace...@ ~300 for those things I chose to wait it out...
by my question you can probebly guess I'm taking a look at Audis...am I crazy?

bmdublu 01-11-2005 11:25 AM

I've driven all sorts of Audis. I like them alot. I've just chosen to stick with BMW because I'm comfortable with them. You really can't go wrong with an Audi. My mom owns a new A6 quattro and it's hot. Comfortable, powerful and reliable. I believe you can get the same engine in the S4 which is a smaller car. Hold on and prepare for takeoff.
