Flex coupler replacement

I'm am going to replace the flex coupler and would like to know if I should replace the bolts that are in it ? If so , what size are they . I'm not close to anywhere to get the bolts so I need to know what to buy before I start the job . I will also be replacing the clutch soon . I have read that I should take it somewhere for the clutch replacment . I would like to know if there is anything specail about the BMW that makes it harder than another clutch job ? I have an E-36 325i , '92 model . I have done clutch jobs on other cars , so I was just wanting to know if there was something different about the BMW . Once again , thanks for your help .

You have to remove the exhaust so you might want some new gaskets for the cat to exhaust manifold connection. You could look at your rubber hangers in the middle of the exhaust and even at hangers in the very rear of the muffler before you even take anything off and find yourself unable to put it back together.
I too have a '92 325i and I just replaced my clutch, and the hardest thing is getting the bolts off the tranny bell housing. You have to remove the intake manifold and that is kinda tedious, but after that you can see the remaing bolts. The problem is that the engine is really long and by dint of that you have very little room to get at the torx bolts.
The flex disc is as easy as the tech article lays out, but you can't tell if you'll need a new center support until you get the foil sheild stuff out of the way so it is really a guess before you get in a ways.
My flex disc was in really bad shape and breaking the nuts from the bolts was really a pain, but if you are getting at it before it starts to turn to a ball of string then it should come off with ease.
Nice to see another 1992 out there, how many miles you got? If you have any questions about the clutch, I literally finished mine this morning so the knowledge is still fresh. It was a huge to do, but I come away with a greater appreciation for my machine and would do it all again.

Use a 24in extension to get the torx bolts. Drop the tranny support with a jack a few inches then use the extension to get those top bolts. easy
