Fun at thunderhill, is this a decent time?
I realize that without much experience, I shouldn't pay attention to lap times, however I had someone video taping my laps and by the end of the day I got a 2:35. The car is a 1987 325IS with HR springs, bilstein shocks, and HR sway bars (otherwise stock). However, this was on M+S all season tires and the track had a chicane before turn 1 and another chicane before turn 8. Is this a decent time at Thunderhill under those conditions for a beginner?
oops this was meant to be in the racing section, I'm posting one there.

Keith, I think that's a pretty good time. I imagine without the chicanes, you would drop 5-10 seconds. Not to mention if you had a better set of tires you would drop a lot more time.
Here's a picture of Keith's and mine E30's at the end of the day at Thunderhill: ![]() It was the first time for both of us on the track in our E30's. I have to say I was very impressed with my 18 year old car with 209,xxx miles on all original suspension bits, and cheap M&S tires. |
