328i window stops twice on the way uo
 

my 1998 328i Conv. drivers window goes up the stops and goes down an inch the does it again about 2/3 of the way up. I think its the pinch protection gone wild . IS it adjustable?, is it in the motor or the contol unit?

Hmm... if I remember right, this is the problem caused from the internal 'stop'... I think it's a magnet. I haven't done the repair, but apparently, somewhere in the regulator, there is a bar with a magnet on it, and over time the magnet slides down tricking the window into thinking the stop point is lower than it is. All you have to do is get into the assembly, find that little magnet, and use a screwdriver to push it back up to the end of the bar. Hopefully, someone who has done this before can be more specific on the repair. As I understand, it is quite a simple and quick repair.
