Looking for help on replacing the rear bearing. A local tire service is charging $300 for replacing each bearing; Is this a reasonable price? I am also thinking of doing it myself. Does anyone have specific instructions on rear bearing removal? the Chilton manual that I have is too general.
Also, looking for the special tool B90-BMW, anyone who has it, plese email to m9154@hotmail.com Thank you, mk |

The local tire service has a resonable price for the job. You can do it yourself but need to disconnect the cv joint ard if the bearing is on the drivers side you will need to remove the muffler. My mechanic was able to remove the rear hub without the special BMW tool but needed to destroy the hub in the process.

Thank you Pelican for the article on wheel bearing. The wheel is turning very quiet; no more humming and grinding noise.
The Sirtool B90 was very helpful; the bearing was replaced without removing the trailing arm and other suspension parts. If anyone would like to rent this tool, you can email me at m9154@hotmail.com ( $30 with $250 deposit.) Feel free to email me if you have any question. mike |
