Anyone Know What This 635csi Is Worth?
I have an opportunity to pick up a 1987 635csi for a really good price. It's auto trans, light blue exterior over beige leather. New power steering. No exterior rust. Just a tad over 100k miles.
Any thoughts on what this car is worth?

A friend of mine had one of those... LUV'D IT!! His dad sold it when he moved to Vegas wihout telling him. I think he let it go for something like $3200. It was in great condition but needed new struts and a few other little things to bring it up to speed. They are great cars... fun to drive. I don't know if that selling price was low or not, but I wouldn't think they would go for more than mid $3K's...

Took a look yesterday, & in actuality it had 138k miles. One minor rust spot on the rear quarter, but generally in good shape. The guy is only asking $1,000 & when I looked online, I saw a few '86 & '85 from 8-12 grand. I figured puttin' some T.L.C into it, & reselling. I'm just tryin' to get a read on the true open market worth.

When you start looking at a car down in the '80s, the price is all over the place. It could be some guys pride and joy and he wants a chunk for it, or it could be just an extra car they want to sell. I've seen a few older 6-series for up over the $10K mark, and they are smokin' crack... I mean, look what you can get for that coin out in the market. You'd have to really love the older 6 to pay out that money.
If this guys just wants a grand and the car is clean and you have the time/money to put a little TLC into it... then go for it. I don't think you'll lose anything on the deal. But you've gotta stop and ask why the guy isn't asking much for it. |
