Angry 85 318i heating/radiator problem

Ok lets see. First it was the thermostat that gave out, so I replaced it. Solved the problem for a day, then it began to overheat worse than ever. I couldn't drive for more than 2 or miles before it was overheating again and dumped out all the water (I've been running water in it till I solve the problem).

Ok, flushed the radiator, again, solved the problem for a day, but went bad again the next morning. Someone told me to get a new cap, so I did. Car ran great for 15 minutes, then it blew out the heater core completely (it's had a slow leak for a while). By pased the core until I can get one, but it's no big deal since summer is coming anyways.

Ok, runs good, then the hoses gave out, but it was time to change them anyways, so I did, and again, the car did great, until the next day.

Now there's a small leak coming from where the water pump is. It's driving me nuts. Befor I pull out the pump (which is about 3 years old) what else should I look for (besides a new car, since my budget can't afford one right now.

Oh yeah, when the car sits in the driveway, it doesn't overheat, it only starts giving me problems once I hit the road.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gabe

Hi there, tell me when the car is on the drive and it is nice and warm, is the top hose hot, but the bottom hose is cold?
if so then you water pump is shot.
Also grab a rolled up newspaper, and try to stop the viscous fan coupling. If it stop like it wouldn't blow the skin of a rice pudding, then that is also cream crackered, and needs replacing.
let me know how you get on,
