radio doesn't sound
Hello everybody! I recently bought a 1993 325i that has a few electrical problems. One of them is that the radio had the internal fuse blown, but it was replaced today. The bad news is that it doesn't make any sound and have no idea what is happening. I need some clues.
Thanks. |
Unless you are really attached to it, I would suggest a new aftermarket radio. They are very easy to install and you can get one and a wiring harness for <$125. Sorry I cant help with the actual repair problem.

With no sound, is sounds like you have a shorted speaker wire (no pun intended). Was the car ever wrecked? If so, then a wire probably got pinched, which shorted, causing a heavy load, then causing your stereo to pop its fuse. I bet if you leave the stereo on for a while now, you'll pop this fuse, too.
I'm totally with Jeron on replacing the factory head unit with a decent aftermarket CD player. Since I have a convertible and way too prone to theft, I picked up a nice used head unit off Ebay for $45. It turned out to be sweet with high power, CD control, remote, and the works. Grab the wiring harness from Best Buy or your local stereo shop for about $15 and you are ready to go. Although, if you did short a wire, you will have the same problem with no sound until you find that shorted speaker wire. |
Thanks everybody. I already solve the problem. It was another fuse blown, this time in the amplifier. As soon it was replaced the radio start to plays.

Cool, good to hear you found your problem and it was something easily fixable.

Good info - I didn't realize there was a separate fuse for the amp in there...
