sway bar shackle

1986 E30 316: I need to replace front anti roll (sway to the USA persons) bar shackles

How do you line up the front lip of shackle with slot on chassis? Jacking up the bar puts it close but with the rubber bush around the bar, and shackle around the bush, I cannot angle the shackle so as to get the lip to slip into the slot

Any suggestions welcomed

Thanks

lesage,
For starters, use plenty of liquid soap around the rubber bushing itself; that should give you more maneuverability.
I had used a hydraulic jack for positioning the shackle. Once in its slot, I tapped it in all the way with a hammer, while slightly raising the jack.

Thank you for the reply
I have in fact now fitted it. I cheated somewhat. I bent the lip of the shackle upwards a little, so that it had better purchase on the slot--- and then used the hammer technique you mentioned

I think that, if I'd had the foresight to use plently of liquid soap, I wouldnt have had to use the hammer technique...!!
