Central Locking/One Touch Windows

Two separate issues I'd like to take care of. Logistics: '97 328is.

1. The central locking system is not working on the driver’s side door. If all the doors are locked, & I unlock the driver’s side door, the passenger door & trunk will open with central lock assist, but the driver’s door is unlocked with manual force. If all the doors are locked & I unlock the trunk, the passenger door & trunk will unlock with central lock assist, but the driver’s door will not unlock. The same is true for locking.

2. The one touch window feature is FU'd on both doors. The driver’s door will not work at all. & the passenger door will go up half way, then quit. Some times the passenger door will go up all the way, but if I attempt to start closing the driver’s door or sunroof manually, the passenger door window will stop.

I know BLKONGRY had some issue with his one touch motors, & of what I remember it wasn't a pretty fix. Any impute would be great.

Well, dont want to hijack this but I have similar problem. In my 99 328is, the passenger window wont go down. If I press the button either up or down I can hear a faint click from the passenger door.

Now the big question, how do I get the door panel off? A quick check showed no visible srews etc. An that door air bag gives me
a scare. Any tech articles on getting the panel off?

Thanks

Jay

Send a message via AIM to percious
Judging by your comments, you probably need a new comfort relay, it is located under the driver side panel, its blue.

Folks, the comfort relay is if the power windows won't work at all. My windows go up & down, they just don't work on 'one touch mode'. I thought that was pretty clear from the initial post.

then, if you have disconnected the battery at any time you have to re-initiate the one-touch function, lower your window(s) then up and after they gone up, keep the button depressed for 10seconds, that will teach them;-)
