Third brake light is not lighting up (on the rear deck) although the brake lights do along with the third light in the spoiler on a 94 325is M-TECHNIC.
Does anyone know why this might be happening? It is not the light bulb or the socket. I tried both and it does not seem to make any difference. When the igintion key is set to accessory there is no curent going to the third deck light with a light bulb check. Does the car have to be started to light up the third deck light? Does anyone know what might be the cause? Thank you, Rick

sounds like a wire has been cut somewhere, according to the ETM diagram the raised brake light shares the same ground distribution point and live point as the regular brake lights

No wires have been cut. I checked the socket with the bulb out with the brake lights on. I used a test bulb with two wires and that still does not work.
Any other ideas? Thank you, Rick

It might be a factory thing, has the light ever worked?
When a spoiler is fitted most manufactures delete the high level stop light. I Queensland it is actually illeagal to have any more than 3 brake lights one on each side and a higher central light. Just an idea. Luke.
