blower motor removal?
Does anyone have information or a link on blower motor removal for an e36? The Haynes manual shows a different type (British?) blower motor with only one squirrel cage and detachable sides. The one I have has two cages and I don't believe the sides come off. There is also a wiper support bracket on in the way of obvious removal.

I did find some more information as this car has AC and therefore a different motor. Something about removing retaining clips from the fan blades and removing the motor and blades seperately? Any clue where those clips are located?

More news... I've seen pictures of two different blower motors, one with retaining clips on the ends of the shafts and one that looks as if the fans are pressed on. Am I working on this car or just screwing around on the internet?

Yes, thank you sir. We cannot seem to remove the left upper section of blower housing. Is it possible that BMW put in the pressed on fans from the factory and intends for mechanics to use the clip on fans for replacement. I don't like E36s, I'm an E30 fan myself. So I guess I should just cut the fans off for removal. The clip on motor is about $100 difference my cost--Jake
Thanks again for your help. Doin some late night postin over there in Sweedland, eh? |
