help! 318i problem??
hi folks
 hope someone can help me??!! i just bought a j plate e36 318i auto,it had a falt when i got it, it would start from cold and drive fine for about half a mile,then it would miss and them back fire through the inlet,so i thought it must be the cat(blockage)so i got a new one!.......yes you guessd it,no change. got a mate of mine to plug in the snap on box,and everything seemed to be pointing to the air flow meter,so i stuck another one on,started the car and took it for a run,it was driving great!........for about half an hour!  what happens now is it starts no problem first time everytime,and drives fine for a few miles then it starts missing but when i give it full throttle its fine,if i pull over stop the engine then start it again it drives fine for another couple of miles then back to square one again!!!!???? please help

sound like something is malfunctioning when the it gets warm/hot, don't know much about the 318i's, have you got one or four ignition coils? Had a similar problem on an old Ford, the coil shorted out when it got hot

Sounds like the temp sensor for the dme.
