side marker lights
Hey guys,
I was lookin for new lights and realized my 94 325ic does not have side markers. Is a 94 supposed to have them or were they started on a later model year? Whats the deal? Thanx Scott

No, earlier model e36's didn't have side markers. I think they first appeared in the '96 model year.
You can add aftermakets though; however, it would take some drilling into the fender. Although I have oem's on my '97, & I really dig the way they look, I don't know if I'd go the 'aftermarket' route if I were you. With the multitude of e36s on the road, It's kinda nice when you see something just a little different. Plus, I'd be pretty weary about drilling into the fender.

Scott, you're right, your car should have side marker lights, the larger ones held in by a visible screw with black trim. Couldn't tell you why yours isn't equippd, but it could be one of those random BMW things that occurs, like the '96 factory equipped OBD-1 e36 I ran into a few weeks ago. If you do decide to drill and insert side markers, be aware that the bare metal from drilling will rust, so you'll want to to laquer the exposed metal.
