Ignition Key Lock Removal

1989 325i and how do you remove the lock cylinder. I have the steering column surround removed, I have a Bentley but it infers that I put a wire or rod into the hole on top of lock cylinder after turning key 60 degrees (postion #1 I assume) push in on rod and pull lock out lock. Well, there is no hole on top of cylinder just one above the key entry (on the face of the lock), so is this the place the wire goes and after that does it atake a lot of twisting and pulling?
