Angry 318is fuel problem

Hi all, I recently aquired a 318is 16v,1991 year.

on the drive home it died, recovery man said it was a siezed fuel pump which made sense, since if you give it a tap it works for a bit!
I fitted a new one at huge expense today, but still no fuel,it appears that there is now no power at the pump. The fuse is fine and the sender unit still works, when you unplug/plug it the gauge moves.

I am now puzzled and annoyed

Any help would be great.

Cheers Mark

Tried that along with a new dme relay.I can get the fuel to pump by hotwiring the pump fuse, however there is still no spark.I have binned the alarm as that was suspect but this has not helped, tonight i have been checking all the ignition connections but no problems there....
Only thing I can see that would be stopping fuel and spark would be ecu???

EE47173 are the last 7. That could make sense since it was erratic before it stopped altogether,if the crank sensor wire for e.g was dodgy that may explain it? Does the ecu require a reading from them before it will fire the engine? Cheers Mark

HI yes, if it do's not realise the engine is turning it will not switch on the fuel pump, for safety.

That seems to be okay,i checked the wiring and no dodgy joints, the reading acroos the terminals with my tester was within the values given in my slightly vague haynes manual, but still nothing. I may have to give in and take it somewhere, easier said than done when it doesn't drive!

It is going to a bosch repair centre about 1/4 of a mile from my door tomorrow to have them read as I do not have the device and the ones availiable from halfords and such look a bit crap to me. Hopefully they will be able to shed some light on it,I think it could be the crank sensor like you say as it was covered in all sorts of grime which probably isn't helping matters. I will keep you posted when I find out in the morning. Cheers.
