e36 Business CD: Security Code Input help?
This may seem like an idiotic question, but I recently received a used OEM Business CD RDS (CD23; Blaupunkt Model BP3850) from a 1994 e36. It's replacing an older unit which does not use the same type of security, and I DO NOT have a manual. The unit came with a 4-digit security code, but some of the numbers are higher (let's say "9999" for argument's sake) than the face numbers on the preset buttons ("1"-"6"), which leads me to believe that the input method for the code is NOT just pressing the preset buttons, as it is for older units. Or, it's a bogus code (which I tend to doubt since I have the actual Radiopass card).
Can anyone with this unit (or this type of unit) let me know the code input process? I'd really appreciate the help. |
Funny! When I bought my '97 328is, the radio pass card also had code numbers higher than 6, & as you well know, six is the highest digit on the number buttons.
I pulled the radio, noted the serial number, & called a local shop with that number & my vin number. They were able to give me the CORRECT code, because obviously the one on the card was bunk. You can probably do the same with a local BMW dealership as well. Just explain your situation, & I'm sure they can hook you up. |
Good to know it's not just me. I'll bring it by my dealership tomorrow. Thanks a lot for the tip supertack; much appreciated.
