coolant replacement

I have a 1988 325i convertible.

I drained the coolant from my radiator and removed all of the respective hoses as I changed my timing belt. I reconnected the hoses, installed the radiator and filled the reservoir with coolant. I opened the bleed valve, but for some reason am not getting a flow of coolant throughout the car.

Should I disconnect the hose that connects to the top of the radiator, add coolant to it and then reconnect the hose?

I am thinking this will help activate the flow of coolant through the car.

Doug,
The coolant should start flowing and circulating through the system once the engine reaches operating temperature. Right at that point you should bleed the trapped air out of the system.
If it still does not flow, then perhaps there is a problem with the thermostat or its installation.
