1988 E30 M3 OBC Troubleshooting

Anyone who can help,

I have a 1988 E30 M3 (Salmon Silver over Black), it has 107K on it. The OBC does not work properly. I changed the light bar out al ready, and tested a working OBC from my 88 325ix in it. I have light to the display but no numbers at all. Besides the light bar, what else is known to go wrong here? What should I do next in the trouble shooting stages?

The M3 is an 11/87 car, and so is the 325ix.

Also, I tried the accelerator pedal treatment for display service codes in the service indicator area . . . I got nothing in response to any codes, do that mean I have zero problems, or am I one of those cars that are too early in run production?

Thank you,
