Which side of clutch disc goes toward flywheel?
I just did an engine swap in a 1993 BMW 318is. After it was installed, there was a loud grinding when I let out the clutch. After I pulled the trans, I noticed the clutch disc was rubbing on the flywheel bolts(it's a dual mass flywheel). I am guessing I put the clutch disc on backwards. I just ordered a new clutch disc, and I want to make sure I get this right this time, can someone tell me which side of the disc goes toward the flywheel?

looking at the clutch plate you will notice it has a flush side ie flat. and a raised side were the centre is pushed out, the plush side goes towards the flywheel. i hope this helps, sometimes it marked on the clutch plate flywheel side.

Hi, the Sachs clutch disc just arrived in the mail today. As you said, it is stamped on the disc which side goes toward the gearbox. (The old disc was an aftermarket one, with nothing stamped)
Thanks !! |
