manual tranny oil change

Hey guys,
I want to change the oil in the gearbox, but am having a bit of trouble locating the fill/check plug. Is it on the passenger or driver side? My tranny has no label on it (that I can see, maybe it's been ripped off after 19 years). The car is an 87 325, 2.7L. My guess is a Getrag 260 tranny.

Also, any advice on the type of oil to refill with?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Don't remember exactly which side the fill plug is but ... you might need some leverage to get it off [I believe they are tapered].

I use redlines products [MTL - manual transmission lube] and gear oil [front and rear differential] transfer case too.

Make sure you can remove ALL fill plugs before taking the drain plugs out. Will save yourself a headache of draining fluid only to find you can't remove fill plug to fill.

It is on the drivers side about 3/4 up the height of the transmission. I drained and filled mine using jack stands but a lift would make it easier. You will need a pump to get the fluid into the trans. I used a hand a finger pump I got from Pep Boys.
